17.2 h Grey Stallion
Cicero Z x Sissi
Born: 2009
Breeder: Luc Van Edckhoudt and Karin Verdeyen of
Stoeterij Van Paemel/Belgium.
Jaguar van Paemel, imported to the USA in 2019, son of the Grand Prix stallion Cicero Z, showing amazing technique over the fences with more than 75+ offspring in Europe. Post a very lucrative competition and breeding career in Europe, he now stands in SoCal and was specially selected to cross with several of the Silverhorne Sir Caletto daughters. Owner G. Bidwell witnessed Sir Caletto in the Regular Working Hunter Division under Hap Hansen, winning the Tri Color in his division and thought of him as a super cross. The idea was sealed when a Sir Caletto daughter bred here produced the top colt with Jaguar, Whoa Jumanji Jaguar (Jaguar x Sir Caletto) the highest scoring BPW colt post the 2022 inspection tour.
Jaguar brings proven jumping lines and the known blood of Sandro and Argentan I to the pedigree. Proof of that selection was underscored by Jaguar’s colt, as well as offspring in show here in the US, many of which seemingly are inheriting Jag’s talent and ability. Jaguar is a super type, a really beautiful floaty trot. “He is possibly the best jumping stallion I’ve seen imported into the US in the past decade”, says AHS judge and mare and stallion committee member Volker Ehlers. Ehlers would know!
Jaguar van Paemel’s sire is Cicero Z, who is known to produce top international show jumpers and received 1st place in the Sires of the World in Mechelen. Jaguar’s dam, Sissi, is a Hanoverian mare who is a daughter of Holsteiner stallion Sandro. She comes from a strong motherline with damsire Argentan. Many of Sissi’s foals have been FEI winners in classes higher than 1.40.
“The BWP/NAD has been inspecting Jaguar offspring for several years, including foals and yearlings. They consistently score very high, including the High Score Colt 2022 for North America ‘Whoa Jumanji’ by Jaguar out of a Sir Caletto mare. Our judge, Boudewijn Schepers, is the former Head Stallion Judge for BWP in Belgium and currently a judge of mares and foals in several countries. He believes the quality of the foals here in North America are just as good as all the foals he judges in Belgium, which says a lot when he scored Jaguar’s colt the highest for 2022!
I have been with Boudewijn at all the Keurings with Jaguar offspring and can say they all consistently have good modern conformation, light athletic movement for all disciplines and fantastic
temperaments much like Jaguar.”
—Chris Sallee, Executive Director for BWP/NAD, traveling on the Keuring tour inspections for over 15 years
Jaguar had a competitive career in Europe where he developed over 100 FEI starts, up to 1.50m. In France he rode up to 1.60m before coming to America in 2019. He has had multiple top ten finishes.
Jaguar Van Paemel is approved for breeding by six registries: AHS, GOV, Westfalen, Rhineland, Belgian, Zangersheide
